In the last 30 years, dengue has become an important health problem in terms of morbidity and mortality in this region. Currently, most of the countries in the Americas report dengue endemicity with frequent epidemics, the co-circulation of several dengue serotypes and increased number of dengue fever (DF) and dengue hemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome (DHF/DSS) cases.
